Volley for the Cure
October 19, 2011. Jefferson finished one of its most successful seasons ever with a loss to Hebron Christian in a 5 set marathon in the second round of the state playoffs. The Lady Dragons accumulated a record of 32-10 for the year. Along the way, we achieved every goal we set at the beginning of the season. We went undefeated in the Sub-Area, not dropping a set, securing a number one seed in the area tournament. We finished the area tournament in the championship game giving us a 2 seed going into the State Tournament and allowing us to host a state tournament match. We also won our first round match in that tournament giving us a home court advantage in round 2.
Other highlights for the season were winning the bronze bracket championship in the Georgia Challenge Tournament and competing in the semi-final match of the Ampest Spikefest in Conyers. Throughout the year, we beat numerous teams who made it to the state tournament including North Hall, West Hall, Rockdale, Locust Grove, Union Grove, Hebron Christian (once), Hart County, North Oconee (twice), Landmark Christian, and Shaw.
The Lady Dragons set several records as a team and as individuals including:
Amanda Daniel 40 assists in one match, 700 assists in a single season
Taylor Cramsey 23 kills in one match
Cassie Metcalf 7 digs in one match
